It's been said time and time again but DPC cannot stress to owners enough the need for prevention. A staple in maintaining your pet's health is always going to be preventing the D's - deterioration, disease and dysfunction. Many of the problems we see every day at our clinic are easily remedied by keeping your pet current with routine vaccinations, administering monthly preventatives, and promoting spaying & neutering.
Each and every pet we see at our Fort Lauderdale facility is important to us. We hope you will allow us to guide you on a path of awareness and prevention that will ensure your pet lives a long and happy life.
Hollywood Florida's Choice for Dog & Cat Neutering
Spaying and neutering your dog or cat is the number one step in preventing unwanted complications later on in his or her life. It is important to spay or neuter to prevent such serious conditions as pyometra, certain cancers, and infection. It also ensures your pet will not have an unwanted litter, curtails certain undesirable behaviors, and ends the messy and unpleasant recurring heat cycles. Sterilized pets live longer, healthier lives; and that's something we can all agree that we want for our pets.
When it comes to preventatives it is important to remember that our pets should always be on a monthly heartworm prevention. In addition to giving prevention, your pet should be tested annually at the time of your annual visit or whenever there has been a lapse in prevention.
Heartworm is a potential fatal disease that affects Florida pets year-round. One mosquito is all it takes to infect your pet with heartworm. This disease is painful and costly to treat and, at this time, untreatable as the injectable medication used is on indefinite back order!
DPC offers a wide range of options when it comes to heartworm prevention. To discuss what product is best for your pet, consult one of our experienced veterinarians at the time of your visit! We also provide a wide range of flea/tick products. We will happily refill your prevention when needed either in the hospital or via our online pharmacy!
